Replacing the CC?

I am planning to remove the CC in my aquarium and replacing it with LS. I need some ideas on the safest way to do this without hurting the fish? Can I just remove a little CC at a time and slowly introduce the LS?

Oh yeah and what makes it worse is the fact that there is a UGF in there too. Now what?

Plenum? Do think I could get away with a mix of the CC and live sand? And what does HTH mean I see that alot?

When I changed to LS I used the "one cup at a time method and took two days to do the work - be patient and go slow and the mess will be minimal

hth means hope this helps
if you look in the archives section, i have apost with many of our slang and acronmys listed, check it out later if you get a chance
i would replace all the cc and leave none, you could put the sand on top of the ugf as mentioned or you could take itout, if you don
t remove it, just don't use it
hth and good luck

I used a 5" net to remove all 100 lbs of my CC from my 125 tank. I then poured 2 1/2 50 lb bags of Southdown sand into the tank. It clouded the tank severly for 24 hours; however, it cleared up very nice with the shrimp, fish, snails, crabs, etc. all very healty. My snails, crabs, and shrimp are now very active on the bottom whereas before they spent very little time there. Get rid of all CC.

What a coincidence, i just yanked out all my cc tonight, resorting to just putting in lr w/glass bottom
