I have this "thing" growing under a rock. It looks more rubbery than sponge. It's close to my hammer and I just want to know what it is and if it's harmful or not.
Thanks!
I've had the same type sponge structure for over three years now. At one time in the old display the entire area behind the LR was full of it....never been a problem and is a nice bit of diversity in my opinion.
Thanks for the replies. It's definitely not a coral. I've never seen a sponge with long branches. I looked really close and it is porous.
I'll leave it there. I agree that it add diversity to the tank. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't harmful.

Yeah, finally a "coral" I can't kill!
