hi i have a somewhat rare pink carnation sun coral that was purchased a long time ago.
long story short i did not know how to properly care for it until a few months ago, and it had experienced some tissue loss. 90% of the heads are still there, but most of them are not touching the tissue from adjecent ones. i have been feeding it, for the last three months, and it has been holding steady, maybe even making a slight come back. but the dimensions and style of my tank make it very tough to do the "right" way, so i would like to give it to somebody local who can feed it right, and watch it make a full recovery.
it is maybe 5" x 3" on a strange clam/mussle / rock combo, with maybe 50 + polyps.
like i said i will give it away, but i would also appreciate some small frag of pretty much anything in return, as i feel this hobby is all about sharing with others and diversifying as much as you can :)

Post a picture. A sun coral and carnation coral are 2 different corals. ONe you can save and one does not have a chance.

well sun coral does not use light at all, so youre lighting system, while nice makes no difference with this thing. you just need to be able to feed it a few times a week properly. some people try feeding polyps individually , but most use the 'the bowl' technique by placing a bowl over them and squirting cyclop and other food in there so the polyps can eat it all without losing it to thief shrimps / hermits....

I would also be willing to pay for shipping if you want to send it to Maitland. I don't have much to give you in return but once I get my hands on some frags you will be the first person I send them to.

can you post a pic? Im still kinda confused as to what it is exactly. At first I had pictured a sun coral that was kind of pink in color. But After googling carnation coral that doesnt seems to be it.
Anyway post a pic. i may still take it.

these were taken somewhat recently - it is a sun coral.
it was slightly more expensive then the regular variety, as the colors were slightly different.
the name was dubbed as "carnation sun coral"
