What's the best way to research something you want to put in your tank? Just google it?

The very best way is to ask here. A lot of people here have experience with the very same thing you're wanting to purchase. Nothing at all beats personal experience, not even a Marine Biologist with 7 years of bookwriting behind him :)

Won't all of you get tired of me asking endless amounts of questions?

Not at all!!!
Every question you ask let's us all learn a little more about the responses. Just don't keep asking the same question until you get the answer you want to hear
Like, "Can I put a Salt Water Croc in my tank if I plan on moving it to my swimming pool in a year?"
As for inverts, there is a similar "Pocket Guide". Not by the same author, and imho not as good. It's still useful to have though. I've found inverts, especially corals, take a lot more research.
