Researching saltwater options

Hello. I'm very interested in setting up a saltwater aquarium and I've begun reading everything I can on the subject. One thing that I'm not clear on is...If I purchase a filtration system that utilizes activated carbon and in addition I utilize live rock, does the ratio of 1lb of live rock per gallon still hold true or can I assume a different ratio for Live Rock per gallon? Thanks

the live rock and activated carbon do 2 different things,so u will still need 1 to 1.5 pounds on live rock per gallon
