Reseeding old live rock

I had a terrible mishap happen when a seastar died in my tank killing a lot of my coral polyps. I had to remove all the dead rock and wash off the dead polyps. I was wondering whether there was any way of reseeding the rock so it can obtain the beneficial algae again? or can I just put new live rock in and let it reseed the dead rock?

Put in some new LR and it will seed the old stuff. How long have the LR been out of water. It may still be good but juast needs to by cured again.
