Retarded anemone?

I bought a condi about a month ago. It seems to be alive, but this thing has yet to anchor itself to anything in the tank, and has scarcely moved more than an inch or two. I have tried to place it in a few different locations, and it just manages to eventually fall down to the bottom of the tank again. I have not seen it eat yet, and have tried several times to feed it various different things. The clown I have is trying his best to feed it too.
What is the deal with this thing?!

I didn't post this for opinions on what is politically correct. If you have an opinion on what appears to be a developmentally challenged anemone...please post your opinion. Otherwise keep it to yourself.

most likely gonna die. the anemone should have stuck 2 something and eaten by now. it was probably collected or shipped wrong.

What kind of lights are you running? Anemones need strong lighting to thrive let alone live.
They will wonder around and climb up glass to get closer to the “sun”. Often in this search they come in contact with a power head and get sucked in and poison the tank.
Do you have strong flow- too strong of a flow for him?
Their are a couple of variables that have to be meet for the anemone to anchor and be happy.

This is why this country is going down the toilet....
Some people are just so pretentious and self absorbed that a word or infliction bothers them and they have to let others know that and makes a stink about it.

Most condi arent stiky enough to hold onto large chunks when there is much current. Are you feeding it small bits via turkey baster letting it grab what it wants or trying to give it a silverside?
If it is inflating/deflating, and color is still good then it should be doing alright, just probably upset about something in the tank.

is it a hatian pink tip condy? they are notorious for this and usually die because they end up in caves and get no light.
the more common condy is the LTA - which does much better in captivity.

Based on my thorough understanding of anemones, my opinion is that it is retarded.

Being retarded would have to mean that there is some semblence of developmently stumped intelligence. Anenome's are sessile invertebrates which means they are attached to substrate and therefore cannot move about on their own. Some anenomes like the Pink tip Haitian (or sometimes called Tumbleweed anenome) branch out so the current can move them around like a tumbleweed in the wind. When they get into a spot where the water movement, light and conditions are favorable they will attach but sometimes the may attach juswt where the currrent is favorable and there may not be light. In those cases they may eventually detach so the current can move them again.
Try not to confuse "favorable conditions" with intelligence.
You might want to just leave it be and let it attach itself instead of moving it around.

while agree with what you said for the most part, the above is not true, Anenome's have a 'foot' and can and will use that foot to 'walk' around any location until they are comfortable. the Condy's will often turn upside down and tip-toe across terrain on the tentacles to find favorable conditions.
my BTA slugs all around my tank from time to time.

Is it filling up or all flacid? could not like your water. I once had a mentally challanged anemone that loved to get sucked into my filter. did it about six times before it finally learned, has been anchored on one rock since...

It is still inflating and deflating, and color seems to be good. Pale pink tentacles, and bright orange base. The flow in the tank is moderate.
I've tried the turkey baster w/ mysis and brine shrimp. Haven't tried an actual chunk of meat, like a silverside yet.

It's called the Generation ME era. Sad isn't it ? Thank God I'm part of that generation ...

Wow what a great lesson in anemone behavior and being politicaly correct. One of the two lessons sure had some value.
Being politicaly correct is like believing you can pick up a turd by the clean end. If you try to be PC then you are retarded.

Maybe I mistated the part about "on their own".
Sessile: Sessile means the organism is attached to the substrate at the bottom of the ocean and therefore cannot move around. Pelagic refers to living in the water of the ocean above the bottom. Pelagic organisms have the ability to move around.
I believe what they mean is that they have no real means of propulsion. the foot is not really meant for travel. Does that make sense? I could be wrong but I do believe anenomes are sessile invertebrates. where humans have legs for propulsion, and birds have wings, anenomes foot is not really meant for travel.
