return pipe end fitting

Hi,
Just finishing up setting up a 50 gallon tank with sump. I can't seem to find a fitting for the return 3/4" pipe. The only piece I found at the LFS is U shaped and works fine but the water is blasting the bottom of the tank.
Is there anything out there to purchase online?
I also discovered a Sea Swirl Oscillator that changes the direction of the flow every 60 seconds.............. it costs about $170.
This looks like it might be good but I really would not like to spend that kind of money........

Can you fit a 45deg or 90 deg PVC elbow in the end of the U tube..?
That would send water "across" the tank raher than straight down...The 45 would be less restrictive than the 90...
Or even a "T" fitting which would send water in two directions...:thinking:
Wouldn't have to go on-line, just run down to the HDWR store...

Unfortunately, the existing end piece goes from 3/4" round to square........no way I can think of modifying it with any off the shelf pvc fittings........

Ughhh...Replace the existing piece too...??:thinking:
Do the whole return line in PVC with just a short "hose" to clamp to the pump to reduce vibration...
Then you can do a spraybar or any of the options mentioned above...or at that point get a Loc-Line flexible diverter for the outlet...
That will fit to PVC...

Why not just do the entire return with flexible, then convert to PVC as is? I couldn't find the barbed to threaded fitting in Home Depot at first either - the people were really dumb at this one. I ended up finding it right across from the PVC fittings - they were in their own section - a whole area of barbed fittings to threaded fittings and the such. I did that, screwed in a threaded female adapter, then i'm going to pvc glue in a street L with a "thingy a majingy" that came with the pump at the end to spread it out. I'll drill a hole through the street L and male adapter joint to break the syphon if the power was to go out.
