Yes my damn return pump just went out, well went out on Monday. Ordered a new one (Monday) and paid a crap ton of extra for overnight shipping and still havent received it. So I'm going down to a LFS to get one. (should have done that in the first place). Anyways there is water that has been sitting in the overflow boxes and prob 30 gallons in the sump. Should I get the water out of there? Or do you think it would still be okay after it has been sitting? Havent tested water in the sump.
Btw this is in a 155 gallon
50 gallon sump

Did you return pump just cut out on its own or when you shut it down. It could be dirty - if you can take it out soak it in some vinegar and water and take the cover off around the impeller and take the mimpeller out. It might just be dirty.

You could test the water and see, its probably fine but id still test. Did you take the impelled out of the old pump and clean it? 9 times out of 10 when they stop is because they need to be cleaned out or have something stuck in them. Just a thought.

Yea I just took it out and tweaked with it...its dead. Damn thing, it's ancient though! So I guess it was time for a new one anyways. I hate when something fails..I worry too much about my babies!
