Return Pump question

I have two internal overflows on a 320 gallon tank. My question is should I have two return pumps one for each side or just split the output of a single pump, or does it matter? Thanks

HEY AC....
I HAVE A 125 W/DUAL BUILT-IN OVERFLOWS AND I JUST
RUN 1 PUMP FOR THE RETURNS....IF YOU RUN 1 PUMP
IT GIVES YOU MORE ROOM IN THE SUMP FOR OTHER
PUMPS/SKIMMERS ETC....WILL ALSO CUT DOWN ON THE
HEAT FACTOR THAT SOME PUMPS GIVE OFF....THATS
OF COURSE IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THEM IN-SUMP
OR EXTERNAL....
REGARDS...

Thanks for all of your help. I know some questions seem very basic, but I just want to check my brain to make sure I get it right.

HEY AC.....
MY CHECK VALVE SAYS ON IT:
BURBANK,CA
VERTICAL USE...THIS SIDE UP
1" CHECK VALVE,SEE-THRU BLUE IN COLOR
FLAP IS WHITE
YOU WILL NEED TO GET THE (2) BARBED- END SLIP FITTINGS
AND WILL NEED PVC GLUE TO ATTACH THEM TO THE C/V...
THE PVC GLUE WILL BE NEEDED DUE TO THE HIGH
PRESSURE FROM THE RETURN PUMP...
I CHECKED A FEW CATALOGS FOR YOU AND THEY
DID NOT HAVE THEM....
I OBTAINED IT WITH THE OVERFLOW KITS FROM MY LFS,
HOWEVER, JUST GO TO HOME DEPOT AND THEY SHOULD
HAVE THEM THERE.....
I WILL CHECK FURTHER FOR YOU AND IF I CAN LOCATE THEM,
I WILL LET YOU KNOW....
REGARDS...

UPDATE....AC......
A FEW THREADS BELOW THIS ONE....
GO TO THE THREAD "WHERE DO I GET BULKHEADS",
CLICK ON THAT, THEN SCROLL DOWN TO PATRICKS REPLY
AND CLICK ON THE WORD "HERE"....
SCROLL DOWN TO "TRUE UNION CHECK VALVES" AND ITS THE
LARGER ONE ON THE BOTTOM ....THEN SCROLL A LITTLE MORE
AND ORDER THE (2) SLIP FITTINGS FOR THE SIZE YOU WANT
THE TRUE UNION CHECK VALVE TO BE...
MINE IS 1" TRUE UNION CHECK VALVE/1"SLIP.....
YOU COULD PROBABLY FIND THE "T" ON THAT SITE ALSO....
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE "TRUE UNION CHECK VALVE" AND
NOT THE OTHER ONE LISTED....
REGARDS....

HEY KLB....
IT COULDNT HURT AS IT WILL STOP YOUR SUMP FROM
OVERFLOWING SHOULD YOU GET A POWER FAILURE...
BUT REMEMBER, YOUR SUMP CAN ONLY HOLD SO MUCH
WATER AND IF YOU FILL IT UP OVER A CERTAIN POINT,
IT WILL OVERFLOW...THIS IS WHY YOU MUST "TEST"
YOUR SYSTEM AND MARK YOUR LOWEST AND HIGHEST
WATER LEVELS THAT YOUR SUMP WILL HOLD IN CASE
OF A POWER FAILURE...
IF YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS,
JUST LET ME KNOW...
REGARDS...

HEY MARINEROCK!
i thought if you had a standpipe, once the water went below the elbow the suction would stop! it seems to stop when i unplug it , but did not try it for long period of time. please explain how to make sure the water does not overflow!! i sure dont want any problems, would the check valve go on the suction side or return side when you have a standpipe? and how to find lowest water level and highest water level!!

HEY KLB....
I DO NOT HAVE A DORSO HOWEVER,THIS IS THE WAY
TO TEST YOUR SYSTEM...
1-TURN OFF YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM
2-SEE WHERE THE WATER LEVEL IS IN YOUR SUMP
3-THEN FILL IT TO WHERE ITS ABOUT 2" FROM THE TOP
OF THE SUMP
4-TURN ON YOUR SYSTEM, AND WHEN THE WATER LEVEL
IN THE SUMP IS STABLE-THIS IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL THAT
YOU CAN FILL THE SUMP....PUT A STICKER THERE AND
MARK IT ...HIGHEST WATER LEVEL....
5-IF YOUR PUMPS ARE IN THE SUMP.....LET THE WATER LEVEL
LOWER TILL THE PUMP STARTS RETURNING BUBBLES TO YOUR
MAIN DISPLAY TANK OR STARTS SUCKING AIR....THIS WILL
NOW BE YOUR LOWEST WATER LEVEL....PLACE A STICKER
THERE AND MARK IT...LOWEST WATER LEVEL
NOW YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOUR SUMP WILL BE NEEDING
TO BE TOPPED-OFF AND HOW MUCH WATER YOU CAN FILL THE
SUMP WITH THAT IT WILL NOT OVERFLOW IN CASE OF A POWER OUTAGE....
REGARDS...
