Well just mixing salt , my kh was at 11dkh at 7.4 ph.It was 7.0 straight RO water. When bringing the ph to 8.2 it cranked th KH to 16-17 dkh and calcuim very low , when trying to raise calcium it cranks my kh up higher . Now with RO rite everything is at correct levels without having to raise my ph . You use RO Rite befor mixing salt , so at the time of using it the water is freshwater . This is not the only expert that told me to do this . I brought water samples to a few reef experts [regular tap water and RO water] and all said the same thing . Apparently my water is odd compared to most as all have mentioned that and is one reason recommending it . And it seems to work very well .

I'm just curious how your water is different. Is there any way you can explain that.
as far as I know 100% h2o is just H2o its not going to react differently than any other 100% h2o anywhere in the world. It sounds to me like either an RO problem or a salt problem. thats the point of RO to strip it to nothing so your mix is the same every time. Now if your water is reacting funny, its either not gettig completly filtered and something is throwing off the levels or your salt mix doesnt contain all you need and you should switch to a better salt. You shouldnt have to do anything to your salt mix after mixing for 24hours every thing should be dead on, or close to it. Are you mixing for 24 hours? what brand/type of salt are you using?
I'm not bashing you and I am not trying to be difficult, I really want to figure out why. because logically there is absolutly no scientificly backed reason to add the ro rite, if your water is pure and your using a good salt, unless there is a variable I dont see. :notsure:

I`m using Oceanic salt . 12 , 24 , 36 , 48 hours it is the same from when I mixed the salt . From what I gathered from the people I talked to I have softer water that most . All three mentioned that most people in my area using RO systems their PH levels out of the RO unit are in the low 6 to 6.7 range . All I know before my Alk and Calcium were way out of wack and now are where they should be . This RO stuff is new to me and going by the top three reef experts in my area are saying .
