Ok so I found a good deal on a Suzuki SRAD and just couldnt resist.
The bike has 12k miles and runs clean. Been downed on both sides and its a mess visually. Nothing structural and even the fairings might be worth saving. I am just picky.
Title is clean, and cash works so I snatched it. I drove about 40 miles and picked it up this evening.
Guy I bought it from was a young guy, but not a squid or idiot. Really was a nice and honest when selling. Was using it as a commuter and probably couldnt tell a flat from a phillips for fixing anything on it. Not an insult but this thing has electrical tape and bailing wire for fairing stays.
Bike is stock and I now of course want to "fix" that part of it.
This thread will be its evolutution as long as it doesnt get closed. If you ride feel free to hijack and post your own rides.
First step will be to take some pictures tomorrow and clean everything up.
Muhahahahhahaha it begins again!!! Stay tuned

750?
I'm ready to pull mine out.... I want a new one, but I'm going to stick with it... the deals out there (at least dealership) aren't that good IMO. I have a 600rr.
I would like to change the plastics over to give it a new look. Saw some things on ---- i liked. Anyone have an opinion on after market plastics.... They have ABS grade and PVC grade...

No this is not my first bike. Yes a 750
Ryan1- changing the plastics to give a new look? What year you looking to change to?
Aftermarket fairings are usually crap but this is a tale from years back. Back in the late 80s when fairing were becoming really popular all these little aftermarket companies began popping up in the market.
Some were rediculous and would not line up at all. Race fairings and full blackouts are easy because no accessories to play with. LOL Everyone feared fitting the old non OEM fairings.
Instead of buying a new set, why not just do yours up? New complete set runs about 1500 if your going OEM, only 500 if your just grabbing a knock off brand. How bad of shape are yours in?
Hey folks lets see some pics. Give this thread a proper hijack or two. Lets see some bio on the bikes and pics. (keep um clean) I will post pics later tonight when I get home to take some.

OK so I changed plans a little
I brought the bike inside and this is it. I went through everything pretty good. The fairing were all clustershmucked together with bailing wire and so on. Fairings from several years and nothing lined up or matched when really looking close.
Needless to say I pulled the fairings and am going to probably just hit the boneyards and make my own custom suit for the bike.
Was sniffing around and the integrated rear one piece from a newer 1000cc, the front upper and lowers will be from an 01 750. The bike itself is a 99

SO heres the rear. I bobbed the tail so I could build off it for the 1000 one piece but this is still too early for anyhting real. It was just done so I could use a mockup and get the feel for how high I wanted the tail in the air.

Since I have all the fairings off I started farting around with the electrical. Jumping from the main harness at the tail with my own pigtail I can just plug and play the new tail once fit is mated. Will be very cool.
I have to do some tracking for plastics but I used plastic fusion on the upper so the 01 upper will stay. The plastic fusion stuff is solid and sandable. Ill have more pics tomorrow.
Paint ideas anyone?

Something like this is what I have in my head for the finished product.

I have always wanted just a very plain pearl while with brushed frame and exposed bolts.
Obviously I am open undecided but my neighbor bet me I could not finish this project before June. I am on track for having this bike done in 4 weeks.......

Believe it or not I am ready for paint.
Was VERY successful day at the boneyards this morning.
Got the high tail and shaved the lights.
Fixed the upper with about 20 coats of prime/sand/prime/sand/prime/sand but its Done!!
Lowers are I think from a 750 but not sure. Everything fits nice and mates with ano another so I am stuck on a paint scheme.
I am now leaning towards a tribute paintjob.
Plain white...maybe a bit of pearl but then large "FMF's" on each side for Clay Smith
What ya think people? I will either shoot it tonight during my alnighter, or tomorrow morning.

Its so hard to stop what your doing to take pics but I have a few here for the upper.
I went through and first identified and cut out the cracks and breaks in the fairing. Then cleaned. I used fusion on both back and front of all cut-outs I made and cracks. Used glazing putty for final detail coat.

Then the paint/sand/paint/sand/paint sand marathon over the course of the afternoon.

I should show off the tail. Had a big crack just behind the seat and now is smooth one piece. Going with integrated lights for the smoother look.

Its on sale, Should I trade my in my Corvette and get something thats more "sporty"?
Was searching for some paintjob ideas and this thing came up. Yes it is serious, and a real kit someone made. I can only assume they will be using body filler and skinning the entire kit but this was so awesome I had to share it.
