If you take the rock out, can you get at the crab with a skewer of some sort? Like a shish-ka-bob thingy?
Other alternative might be an iodine dip. I dip all my new corals now and am surprised at what all comes out of the little rockwork.
I would research the iodine further before you try that on rics as I have never dipped rics that way. Mainly because I don't have many.

Well...I've put him AND the ric rock in my QT... till I figure out what to do. He retreats pretty far in there, no reaching him with tweezers.
I dip my corals too but I got chicken with this one due to the price....and only left it in 5 minutes :( Not enough to kill him.

I killed a gorilla by putting some food by his hole with a skewer ready in hand - as soon as it stuck it's head out - bam!

Just remove the rock and let it set out until the crab comes out. It won't hurt the rics but F/W dipping will. I don't know what it is but I have seen sallylight-foots wipe out a whole batch of ricordea. Luck getting it out. You can leave them out for upto 15 minutes, won't hurt them. Turn the rock so the tardbas crabs hole is downward.

Seriously? 15 Minutes out of the water?
I wish I had known - I did a less than stellar job of attaching the Ric's I got from FLRICORDIA to my "Ric Rock" (a soon-to-be DIY mega-Ric colony
) becasue I was worried that I had them out of the water for too long.
Ditto on the camera comment - the detail in the picture is really nice. I would like to see a photo of the whole rock (hint, hint)
Take Care...

changing the spelling of a cuss word to bypass the filter is not acceptable! Please do not post like that again.

AWESOME! Thanks! I would LOVE to get him out in one piece as he's quite pretty and it really bothers me to kill something. (He can live in the sump of my hubby's tank) Do you think it's a Sally Lightfoot?

Great pic man what kind of cam is that?
Samsung slim'n wave i think it's called? I'm fairly happy with it for normal stuff but i'm still wanting to get something with a few more options (+ a tripod!) for tank shots.
