What is the difference between the different ricordia? My LFS has Ricordia Yuma and at SWF.com they have Ricordia Yuma and Ricordia!
What is the differnce?
Ricordea Florida and Ricordea yuma are the only two I know of. R. yuma are a little more scarce but they are gaining in popularity. Yuma also tend to eat more solid food and get larger. Generally they also have more flourescence.
so in your opinoun Bang Guy (because with out a doubt your opinoun has much more knowledge behind it than anyone else i know)... is there any true difference between the 2 and is one more difficult than the other...i just look at the ones that SWF.com show and the Florida Ricordia look so much better...what do you think?
Not to step on anyones toes, but I believe the difference in them are the way the bumps spread out from the mouth. And Jack, you are right, a Ric. is a type of shroom (least thats what I was told)
i understand that there both mushrooms but i was just wondering what if any the difference is? are the colors generally the same between the two? i know that florida ricordia comes in many different colors...does yuma ricordia come in just as many colors?

Yes they do, and their difference is all about the bumps.
I think all mushrooms are in the order Corallimorpharia, ( Coral anemones ). Ricordea is one genus of about 10 with only the 2 known species as Bang said.
Rics generaly grow and reproduce much slower than most other shrooms and IMO the yuma reproduces slower than floridae. You still can slice them yourself though....
These are R. yuma. If you look at the mouth you'll notice that the "bumps" go up the center. If someone will post some R. florida you'll notice that the bumps stop before the mouth.
Bang - you should send me some yumas you have for some fl I have. I can get ahold of any color fl for only $5 per polyp... yumas on the other hand.... i've only found a couple crappy ones for sale here and there in FL
