I have a new ricordia. I put him mid way in the tank (46gal bow). My lighting is 196 w actinic and vho. Is this too much light or should I put him a bit lower. Also, should tyhey be placed on rock or sand (if sand then they get a bit less light). Thanks.

as long as their is something stationary for them to attach to they should be alright on the sand. if they arent getting enough light they will visibly start looking worse then you can move them up. just dont start high and after the are usta that light drop them to the bottom.
I really want some but they want a ton for them here LOL

I got mine from SWF for $5. Seems right to me. Thanks for the tips. Sounds like good advice. Should the be fed, or are they all photosynthetic. I did add some phytoplex.

I have a green one living on the bottom of my 12 gallon under 30 watts of flourescents. You should be fine wherever you place them.

locally they are high I think they have rock with brown ones for 59.00 I think with about 5 shroms on it.
I think the ricordea is one of the that will eat if its offered to them. the easiest way is try feeding them and see if they will take it. pyto helps out a lot of different corals including shrooms so its a good idea to use it anyway.

they are really sought after and that demand has got the prices on up there. I have seen them for sale for 150+ for a single ricordea that was attached to a small rock. LOL
what really gets me is that most will get that price!!!!

Yuma is what these were very pretty corals I just cant afford to buy a single polyp for 100+ dollars no matter how pretty the are LOL

I agree. I saw something like that last night. Over $100. Yea right. Maybe after I win the lotto. Besides, my cheap ricordia looks great.

Are orange ricordia yumas really that expensive? I picked one up at the pet store a while back, but didnt pay anywhere near $150. Heck, I could of walked out the door with it for 20 bucks when the owner wasn't there, but the angel on my shoulder beat up the devil on the other one and, told me that the chick at the petstore is too cute to get yelled at for selling me a rare mushroom for $20. I guess its going to be great for frag trades.

I just cut em up an stick a toothpick in them so they dont fly around to move them to a diffrent area. I belive bang guy said they grow faster when feed and split on there own natrally faster than fragging. Carefull when your picking spots there pretty agressive to some corals.
