at my lfs they sell ricordeas for 7 bucks and they arnt stuck on rocks. i was thinking of getting one but i noticed a while back ago they dont come with at least a little rock. so how do you place them? do you put them there and hold them for a few minutes so that they stick on the rock you want them in? where do they like to be, bottom of the tank, top of the tank or middle? and are 2x36watts pcs enough for them?

You can rubberband or net them to the rock and they will attach in 2-3 days. The more light they get the faster they will grow and split.

Place them on top of a rock where there isn't a lot of flow or use a container to place the rock and the coral to keep it from blown off. It takes a few days it just depends on how quick it wants to stick to it. Other than that most ric's like to stay half way up but they do open up a lot more at the top but they tend to loose color if its too bright. RIc's are one of my favorite corals they are probably the only one that produces the most variety of color of any coral there is.

I used bridel netting on mine, and it attached in a few days, and spit. wish my lfs sold them for only 7 bucks. they are double that here., so i look for one with more then one mouth.

Try triple that price where I go......to attatch mushrooms after I frag them I wrap them under netting you can get at fishing supply stores. Fisherman use the micro netting to wrap bait balls (tuna, egg, etc). It works great.

They aren't stuck on any rocks?? Not even a little piece of gravel?? When I got mine it was stuck to a small piece of CC so I superglued that to a bigger rock. But it has since wandered off to a spot it likes better.

how fast do the ricordias grow and split? i am thinking of getting some of the orange ones, but if it takes forever for them to multiply i might go with something else. $35 is pretty steep for one small ricordia, thats how much orange ones are here

Ric's are some of my favorite's too.My lfs sell them for around 15 bucks a piece without a piece of rock also.I was told once that they are not allowed to sell them attached to rock, don't know if it is true or not though. Here is a pic of some of my ric's i may be fragging soon, the whole rock is just covered with them and they are getting big!

I got lucky. I had a hitchhiker ric on a star poly colony a few months ago. I've since chopped it up and have around 8 of them now. They are really weird though. They are alsmot see-through and look like snowflakes. At night sometimes they close up and inflate with water...looks like little beach balls.

My lfs sells me any lose floaties for 4.00, unfortunetly he never has rics floating, but i have gotten mushrooms and a neon polop for that price and i just rubberband them to a rock, the neon i just superglued to a rock, wasn't sure it would stick, but it dod, so have some shrooms, but the rubberband is less messy.
