Awww, I read the title and thought you were starting a ricordea species only tank. Oh well, I guess a starfish tank would be interesting.

I guess some seastars are cool, I would love to have a doughboy star but apparently they eat coral so I guess they would require a non reef tank.
Do you think 5 gal will be big enough for a cc star? I personally have no idea, just curious.

ya, it is because i was thinking of doing a herlequin shrimp tank, and someone said that i could use this tank for 3 or 4 stars as food for the shrimp.

Harlequins are neat but so tiny! I was expecting them to be much larger. Keep us posted whichever direction you go.

i dont think im going to do a herlequin tank purely because of size liek you said. too tiny for me. but im not saying they arent cool

I personally do not think that will be even close to being big enough for a chocolate chip star. Besides, stars need a very mature tank. My chocolate chip would definitely not fit in a tank that size.

If it were me, I would use it as a cool goby tank. Find a goby that you like and center a little reef around that. A few suggestions would be:
-shrimp/goby pair
-green and yellow clown gobies
-yasha hase goby
-grissingeri goby

Sort of, cc get pretty big but dont the grow pretty slow so you could definatly start it out in a tank that small but way later down the road you would have to move it.
And as for the mature tank my gf found a 6legged one and she wined and cried (not lilterally) till i let her get one but she had to start a seperate tank (turned into my 2nd tank) and i put about 10lbs of ls in a 5 1/2g and a lot of lr rubble and about 2 days later put in the cc star and he has been doin great for 4months. (there is also a couple of hermits, snails and one clownfish)
