RIP Baby Hippo

Don't know how it happened but my Baby hippo got caught in my PH. Came home from work and he was half way inside of it. I couldn't save him he must have been in there all day.

Sorry about your loss, but he probably died before the ph got to him. Low survival rate especially among the babies. Beautiful fish, but a p.i.t.a. I hate mine, evil little %^#$#(#%)@!^#&#*%&#*$#*%#*. Wish I could catch him, take him back. (all talk, I don't have the heart to do that)

He was fine yesterday he would hide alot but he came out and ate I've had had him about a month didn't act sick at all looked fine. Just bought the new PH friday.

Baby hippo tangs are hard to keep alive, Mine was the size of my pinky nail when I got him years ago, so they can make it. I would have been so upset to find him in a power head. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you that was the main reason I wanted to start salt water was so I one day I could keep one. Guess not. I love my other fish also but he was my favorite.

Do not give up, I also wanted the blue hippo, it is why I got into the hobby too...get a larger one is all. Having your favorite fish is what it's all about.

I will when I up grade my tank. Then I can get a bigger one I thought I could get it small then by the time it got bigger I would have my bigger tank. I will have to order it though because my LFS only has babies they never get larger ones.

Thank you all for your support it helps when others understand how you feel some say its only a fish but to me they are like all my pets they are like my children only wet, furry or have feathers. LOL

oh what are some fish i for sure need to stay away from ??

With a tank that size (210g) ..you can have pretty much anything you want...what you need to do is decide what you want the most and build around that. Each critter must get along with what is already in there..I am posting a copy of two books and pages so you can see the info. They will save you lots of money and headaches.
