RO Advice?

What is a deionizer? I saw something called a "tap water filter" that I think is a deionizer and doesn't waste water, is small, looks easy to use. Anyone familar with it?
Last question-what brands does anyone recommend for RO units? Anything to look for when buying?

Deionized water will not work. Deionization doesn't remove any organic compounds or impurities from the water. All it does is remove charged particles from the water such as cations of sodium, calcium, iron, etc.
I have a Coralife RO machine that has been in use for about 2 years now. It works really well and had a pricetag of $120 at the pet store.

The Tap Water Filter will work if you have very clean tap water to start with.
If not then you'll find that you need to change the beads so often that it will get very expensive.
