i would like to start a poll about ro/di water. i was just wondering who buffers their ro/di before you mix up your salt. and if you buffer the ro/di water for daily top offs. since i was reading about Kent Marine Osmo prep. it is suppose to buffer your ro water.

Kent must be making a killing... They have a "solution" (lotsa pun) for everything.
They buy picking lime cheap, sell them as kalk at inflated price. Put a few teaspoon of baking powder into RODI, call it RODI buffer and empty our pockets. Scrape some diatom off the glass, call in PhytoPlex. BTW, I dont know these things... I am just speculating... :)
Ohhh ... I voted 'no'

Anthony Calfo says to buffer your RO/DI before adding salt. I have not seen hard science indicating that it is necessary and there are certainly enough tanks out there that show it is not mandatory.
I do not buffer prior to mixing.

I've heard that before. I find it odd that he would recommend purposely making unbalanced saltwater. I have to disagree with him on this point. I think it would make the ALK too high as the best case and cause precipitation as the worst case.
