RO/DI care

So I got my Bulk reef supply RO/DI unit today.
I got a flush kit as well, and heard you are suppose to flush FilmTec membranes for 1 min. Is this correct?
Also, after flushing, should I drain the filter?
Could you outline the entire "shut-down" process for the filter?

I have a Kent marine unit and according to my directions I had to just run the system for 5 gallons of product water to flush out all the preservatives in the filters. i also do this anytime I replace an old filter.

I did the initial washing, I have also heard that you have to bypass the waste line's flow restrictor for 1 min after every use of the filter, to wash waste off the surface of the membrane. After some research, i think I am suppose to leave the water in the filter to prevent the RO membrane from drying out. Also I read that you are suppose to if you don't use the filter for a week, put the RO membrane in a tightly sealed plastic container and put the container in the refrigerator.
I LOVE MY FILTER!!!!

pppshaw...
Flush kits are optional and their effectiveness is questionable. I never flush my membrane and I'm doing just fine.
And yes, you are supposed to keep the membrane moist. It doesn't have to be submerged, but it should not be allowed to dry out. Usually just keeping it in the chamber, even if the water is drained out, will keep it most enough. Most people have their RODI system permanently deployed, they don't just bust it out when they need to make water, so this isn't an issue. You may want to think about doing the same.
