I hate buying water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am thinking about adding a unit in my laundry room. I don't have a sink
but can I tap in to the cold water side of the washer and have the waste line drain into the drain pipe where the washer water goes? I what to mount it on the back wall and have it drain into plastic trash can with float valve.
Next what kind to get that will work well yet not be so pricey. How often do you have to change filters?
what fittings would I need to buy to set up this pics would be helpful

here are my pics, you can see my RO which i just setup in the laundry room today...mine is an Premium Reef RO/DI unit for 150...very nice for a great price..should be able to google it. what i was able to do is cut the washer line, use a 1/2X1/2X/12" into that, then a 3/8X3/8" barb sealed into the 1/2" T, then a 1/4" barb into that, and then your feed line...that was all i used--its easy to setup. i'm sure there are maybe easier parts, but i couldnt find em
hope this helps

to turn it off i just turn the blue valve, then turn my john guest valve...i will eventually find out how long it takes to fill out a 5gallon jug so i can set a timer---if you look in the 4th picture in the top left corner you'll see a valve connecting a white and black tubing, that the johnguest valve i'm talkinga bout
the part on top was there when we moved in, its a 'hammer arrester valve'

To tap into the cold water line is super easy.....Just go to Lowes or HomeDepot and in the plumbing section search out the ice maker install kit a couple bucks....It should come with a saddle piercing valve some 1/4" line and other goodies, but all you actually need is the saddle piercing kit. You will need a screwdriver to tighten the saddle piercing valve around the pipe and once you get it tight you'll dial in the "T" handle which will extend a piece that will pierce the pipe.......the rest of the installation you already have figured out......
If you have a hook up handy like Bronco300 and easier way would be to get a splitter valve that would screw onto the cold water supply line of the washer machine supply in the wall......The hose to the washer would attach to one outlet and the RO/DI would attach to the other if you have the sink adapter that hooks to the RO/DI unit....
Filter changing has alot to do with the quality of your source water......I would invest in a TDS meter to monitor my filters and when your TDS rises look to the filters.....You'll change your sediment and carbon filter alot more than the DI and membrane......

i looked for something like that i just couldnt find just that would work for me...i got so mad looking for stuff,lol...oh well, it worked for me--go with acrylics as that would be easier

Which adapter????? If your talking about the "Y" splitter you can get them at Lowes or HomeDepot over in the garden hose section.....If your talking about the faucet adapter you can try Lowes in the Plumbing section over where they keep the Jaco fittings and such, and if you can't find them there, Custom Aquatics or AirWaterIce sells them online......HTH

Hey bonita69 I'm not trying to hijack your thread but Is there a good and very cheap ro unit? I only have a 20 gallon tank and a 8 gallon tank and was wondering what is a good kind of ro unit to make ro/di water. I dont need it to do 20 gallons a day, i just need a good ro unit thats not very expensive.
Thanks.

RO/DI doesn't just have to be used for your tank water....
you can use it to drink rather than buying bottles upon bottles of puriied water (which in most cases is not as "pure" as it claims to be)
just go for a 24 gpd a day unit...
if you insist on cheaper and a unit where it won't produce large amounts of RO water
then try a Tap Water Filter...it's like 33.00 but you have to replace the refil cartridge every 50-150 gallons and the cartridge costs around 19.00
pm me if you need help finding it.
