My "Air Water & Ice" co. Reef-keeper unit bypasses about a 3 to 1 ratio with clean filters. I love mine , not expensive either. Plus they are a good company too.
If you get one go with the 75 gpd membrane not a 100 gpd one. Lets far less threw. My current filter cartages are about 8 months old and still only 2 or 3 ppm with well water, and older cartridges .......
I too save my bypassed water. Mine goes to keep my outdoor Lilly pond topped off... Warren

I had no rise in water bill My local water company charges a set fee for the first so many gals then so much for so much more I never go over the min amount so I pay the lowest bill they send out. I filter 40 gals a week. Of good water.

the carbon and sediment need to be changed like every 10-12 months, the membranes can last years.

And please let me confirm... if using ro water, there is no need to dechlorinate the water? So when I goto the grocery store, and buy 5 gallons of ro water from the machine (gacier water or something like that is the name of the company) I do not need to dechlorinate the water???
This was news to me, I always thought you had to. Please confirm for me.

I actually save money by buying the RO/Di unit. I used to buy RO water at 50 cents a gallon. Now its costs me pennies per gallon. I dont have any waste water because whenever I proces RO/DI water, I run the drain line into my washing machine, I dont waste any water this way.
