Is any body out there drinking RO/DI water? I just bought a new unit and there is no outlet for drinking water. I've heard it is not good to drink. Any thoughts?

I have never tried it but I know my dogs dont care for it. Are you running all of your household water through an RO/DI? I plumbed mine is seperate from everything else in the house so all it does is fill trashcans of tank water.

i know they have systems that will filter your entire house. if anything it will remove the beneficial minerals from the water as well as the bad ones, but it seems to me that would negate the purpose of water changes so i dont know. there are places that will test it for you, at least here anyway.

Drinking the RO is fine, but not a good idea to drink RODI. If you look at a RODI unit that is setup with a pressureized storage tank and typical dispensing type of faucet, you will find its off the ro portion of the tank that water is obtained. We do use rodi water to make coffee in coffee maker however.

Thanks for the replies everyone. My unit doesn't have a splitter, but I think I can work one in, before the DI filters. It shouldn't kill us to drink it for a week or so.

My RO unit was manufactured for drinking water. It came with a faucet for dispensing water. In the line that goes to the faucet, I put in a "tee" to divert water to a separate DI filter. From the DI filter, I run another line to a valve where I get RODI water for my top offs and water changes.
