when you first hook up the system does it take a few gallons to read 0 tds's? thanks

i know with my DI unit,it says to disregaurd the first few cups from every new cartridge.

some people say that you shouls let it run a few gallons before using the water, so i would assume that it must produce at least a few gallons to give satisfactory readings
