i have a 180 gallon tank and plan on doing a 10 percent water change every 2 weeks, does that sound fine? which ro/di system would you recommend i get for that? and how much will it run me and is it hard to install(im not very handy).

The amount of water that you plan to change sounds fine. most people change about 20-25% per month. As far as an RO/DI unit most of the units are the same except for the filters themselves. I purchased a unit from costco, then replaced the membranes after a couple of months with the kent cartridges. The unit from costco cost about $175, and was fairly easy to install, as I am not the DIY type of person.

I have the same one that Javatech has and it works great. It comes with the self-piercing connector, along with a hose and faucet adaptor and plenty of tubing. Basically mine was plug and play.

today i went to home depot and got 25 feet of the same tubeing and a splicer for the dirty water so i can move it around the house and fill all my tanks one thing i found out when you make that line longer it slows down the unit i think i'll take the small tubeing off and get some clear rubber tubeing that's bigger and slide it in to it and then clamp it
