My LFS has both RO and DI, which one should I get? I went with RO for the initial fill, what about the top offs? I know some of you say tap is okay, but I prefer to stay away from that.
Thanks-
Jeremy
Ya I cannot understand this new tapwater fad? go figure?
anyway, I would probably use which ever one was cheaper...distilled water is DI I think? Either way both are pretty good water sources for top offs...
I'm kinda confused why they would have RO & DI and not RO & RODI. If that makes any sense. I think the RO process takes out more of the impurities than just a DI would. It goes with out saying but RODI water is the purest.
Distilled water and DI water are to completely different processes.
i'll never use tap water again. don't know why anyone would say that it's ok to use. you CAN use it, but RO/DI is so much better. i don't understand why your lfs doesn't have RO/DI water, just one or the other. maybe you could ask them to deionize some of their RO water for you???
Distilled water comes from a distiller which works in diffrent manner than ro/di unit. rainwater is distilled water.
Also there was somthing on the ro/di faqs on reef central that stated ro is good drinking water but not di.
I've never heard of just DI water, but the closest I can think of would be water ran through the Tap Water Purifier. It has a small carbon section and Deionizing resin. I used one for 3 years and it worked just fine, but was very expensive to use as the cartridges only made about 50 gallons and cost $20.00 each.
