RO/RODI water

Can someone please explain this to me. What is Ro/RODI water and how do I do it. I'm using tap water now. I'm confused.

Ro/di is a way of making the purest water available. A reverse osmosis unit (RO) will create water bottle quality water. Furthermore, DI stands for Deionization is a process that removes charged particles from the water...usually creating a pure or close to pure form of water that can be used to ensure that you are not adding anything that isn't benefitial to your tank and that you are truly diluting your tank's water when you do water changes and do top-offs. As hobbyist we have enough to worry about when it comes to the things that our food, fish, and other animals are adding to the tank to worry about what we are adding to the tank when we do something as simple as a water change.
You can buy an ro/di unit online at places such as thefilterguys.biz (my favorite), **************, and airwaterice.com These can be hooked up to your tap water and purify it. Filters need to be changed, but in most cases, not often.

Charlaine,
I just purchased a RO unit from coralife PureFlo II unit. ( $160) Very simple to use and set up. Beats traveling to fish store or Walmart!

I was going to reference that thread I started but you beat me too it :)
I like my airwaterice dual reefkeeper -- gives me a 3 gallon storage tank to drink from the RO side.
