you are better off alone buying RO/DI units and i rather get a 6 stages. hooking up is easy, just hook it up toa faucet or garden hose.

richfish, i already told you. 35 gpd doesn't mean anything. If you buy a 100 gpd, you still can get 35gpd. it's your decision to make the RO/DI make 35 gpd with any units. The 100GPD membrane lsat much longer then a 35gpd

As far as hooking them up, if you want to hook it up inside of the house, you can hook it up to the same line you would hook your ice maker up to, if you wanted. Or you can use the method Andrew suggested.
As far as which one to get, I would head over to that auction site by the bay and look for one. You can get them for almost half as much as you'd pay for one here.

A lot of what you are paying for in an RO/DI unit is a name. This is one of the reasons why Kent units are so expensive. The membrane is the other important part, you want a quality membrane. I have an Airwaterice unit and it has done great for me.

I don't understand the gallons per day thing exactly. Do you hook them up to a faucet and leave the faucet on and the RO/water collects in a container or something? Or can you just turn on the faucet when you want the RO/water and it comes through the unit right then? I guess what I'm asking is, do you have to know hours in advance that you need the water or is it always ready to go?

yea do you turn the sink/hose on and just let it run?where will the water collect?where does the bad water collect?how many times do you have to empty the bad water while your getting your RO water?

I have my RO/DI hooked up to a utility faucet in my washroom. Two lines come out of the unit, waste water and pure water. I run the waste water down the drain and the pure water runs into a trashcan. GPD is how many gallons of pure water will be produced at optimum conditions. Water temp and pressure, etc will affect this amount. A ratio of 1:3-4of pure/waste water is average with optimum conditions.

The hose or faucet would be the input water, after going through the entire filter process you have two lines coming out in the end, waste and pure.
