my wife got me a ro unit as a gift trying to save me some trips to the store with the bottles,it is the ro 35hi-s 35gpd unit by kent marine .is this unit going to be ok without the di stage? it filters 97-99% of impurities. i thought i also needed the di stage but with 97-99% effectiveness is it really necessary? kent said it would be ok the only thing i see that i am lacking is a tds meter.

Depends, if it is a fish only tank then just a good RO unit is fine, if you are going to have a reef then I would get a add on DI. I personally would not run a reef tank without DI.

yea i would definitely get the stink eye if my wife thought her gift wasn't good enough. i do have a couple thing that were given to me a couple anemone's and a xenia that is growing like wild fire. currently i have been getting my water at the neighborhood grocier's water machine (which kind of makes me wonder since there is no way to tell how pure the water is). i have a kent marine hi-s 35gpd it claims to filter almost everything except what a di unit can.
