RO water question

Does using RO water guarantee no algae or diatom blooms? Ive been doing water changes with store bought,RO,dionized(sp),sterilized water.So far Im at 20 something gallons plus top offs. I still get some rust colored brown algae on the sand and some areas on some rocks. My tank's a 55gal with the coralife aqualight setup.

Diatoms will be there as long as they've got silicates to eat. once they've ate them all, they'll disppear. Addin Ro/DI give you the assurance you're not adding any more silicates.

I never read what Bang wrote, but must say just because you'd use an RO/DI unit doesn't rule out the possibities of algal outbreaks... alot of things can influence this in a tank as well
