Do a search but a quick diagnosis:
#1 Spring Water: Good to drink, but contains too many disolved nutirents which can contibute to nitrate and algae spikes.
#2 Ro/di water the best possible for your tank for making water and topping off water evaporation. Reverse osmosis/deoinized superior.
#2 Distilled water, I read that it is the purest water possible, but not economical for the home aquarium!

RO/DI water can be bought at your LFS i usually pay .50 gallon or you can make your own with your own home system, which is kind of costly at first but will soon pay for it self over a short time! by saving you time and money of going to the LFS.. see
