RO Water

Another question I just thought of, sorry for all the questions, but I am always thinking of things now.
I was looking into home water delivery and one LFS sells RO water for .50 a gallon. I just need to drive there and pick it up. I am assuming that with a 70 gallon tank I will need somewhere around 15-20 gallons a month to replenish the evaporated water.
I was told to get new gas cans by one person or something similar to put this water in. Another water distributor just told me that the RO water would eat away at the plastic. If so what would you folks suggest in the interim before I setup home water delivery? What should I use to transport the water that would also keep it "good" for a couple of weeks? Does RO water have a shelf life?

It may be better in the long run for you to invest in an r/o unit. I have never heard of r/o eating through plastic you should be safe with clean plastic gas containers.

Price is relative. If you get good quality water out then that was a good buy compared to the 60 gpd RO Filters that cost 275.
