Rock

Hey guys I had a friend call me and he had a 120gal tank. He asked me if I wanted all his rock and I said ya well I thought he was leaving this weekend and he left last weekend. So the rock has been in tubs now for a week without water etc. Is the rock dead? Should I still cycle it off or what? I got a 120g and i got all the rock right now sitting in my 55g. So let me know what to do thank you all.

Put the rock in a tub of saltwater with a power head....it has to cycle...leave it there for a week or so. It is not dead but dormant...after it is clean from dead things the eggs and such will revive, and the rock lives again. As long as it has not been dumped in freshwater.

Ya let it sit in a tub for a week but i would get a couple strong powerheads.. you want as strong as a current as you can get...

Seed it with other live rock.

I have other live rock that is well established in my other tank to seed it with so that is no big deal. I will cycle it off and go from there i guess now is a good time for an aggressive tank since I am going to cycle the tank basically anyhow. And no never been in freshwater
