the DIY stuff will look more realisitic if you use crushed oyster shell and macaroni lol it all dissolves out during the curing process and leaves nooks and crannies for things to set up shop. Im starting a batch this week actually, lol

Oh I like that. I have FIJI now to but wouldn't mind a couple of pounds of that.
it makes good base rock, because its really sturdy. i have a big shelf piece of tufa rock, and another big 10lb. chunk. its always covered in pods.

macaroni?

lol yes shells, orzo, pastina, we even stuck ziti and spaghetti in for the heck of it to make deep pores. It looks very similar to the real stuff but cost about 25 cents per lbs to make and of course there the wait time.

yes is that a sea clone
Yes it is a seaclone 100. It is my first and only skimmer so far. I have had no problems with it. Seems to skim everything out fine. I know everyone on here always seems to bash them but for the money and to be an entry level skimmer I like it.

I have about 150# of it in my tank along with some lace and fiji.It all looks the same after its covered in coraline.I paid $1 a Lbs for it and would do it over if i had a choice. No unwanted hitch hikers and very cheap compared to anything that comes out of the ocean.

well I hope that it works out for you. mine that i had did nothing for one year i had it and i when to aquatraders and bought there 75g for half the price and i have dumped it more in 2.5 weeks than i dumped that sea clone in a year lol.

I usually dump mine about twice a week and it is usually half full. I am sure I will upgrade when I get some money but right now I want to get it looking good. I only have 4 fish and my filter is an Marineland Emperor 400 so it stays pretty clear in there. All my levels are always at 0. Eventually I want to add a sump or fuge.
