Romaine Lettuce?

I feed romaine lettuce to my tangs very often and I was wondering whether they're getting any nutritional value from it. They absolutely love it and between a Naso, an Orangeshoulder, and a Yellow, a large leaf is usually gone within 45 minutes. The only thing is that it leaves quite a mess in terms of fish waste etc. I also feed the fish 3 varieties of Seaweed Selects and I just picked up some "Sushi seaweed" which I think to be Nori at the local market. Should I continue using the romaine? What else does everyone feed their tangs?

Do you boil the lettuce first or just wash it well. If you do boil it, it loses most of it's nutrional value.

I pick up this brown seaweed looking stuff at my lfs, i think it is some sort of microalgea, the tangs seem to love it. As to the lettuce,, dump the idea and feed them the nori.

Even though some people have moved away from romain, I think variety is the key when it comes to a diet. Along with the seaweeds, romaine lettuce are good and also spinach. I freeze it first as the ice crystals break down the cellulose while keeping in the nutrients unlike blanching. The fact is we really don't understand the correlations between vitamins and health, so with enough variety we could attempt to override that.

I eould stick with the seweed selects and not feed the romain lettuce. 1) Romain lettuce is not in the ocean, so why feed it. 2) You said that it is messy, why feed it if they are getting nothing from it and it is messy. Just my thoughts, I would not feed it.
