Romeo QT

Well Romeo is in the hospital tank(HT) and is doing okay...he swam around for a minute or so and than drifted down to the bottom and is snuffling the tank side...probably wondering what happened to all those juicy pods? I going to go and fix the boys their dinner.
Good news is that Romeo is half heartedly nibbling baby brine. The transfer to the HT caused some stress, his color has really lightened up, but at least he is trying to eat.

Do the patches still look aggravated?
If he eats anything at all, you are doing okay. But he has to eat.
Add two or three thawed mysis with the baby brine each feeding. It sounds like he needs to learn this food is good. Is he WC?

I have spoken to the owner, supposedly he orders his seahorses from a breeder in Hawaii. So both my seahorses are supposed to be TB, but Romeo has never shown any interest what so ever towards mysis shrimp. I had plan to do what you had just suggested. However, Romeo is very thin. As I was reading about caring for sick horses I came across force feeding. Now I have cared and force fed everything from calves to baby birds, but never a seahorse. The instructions advised using a tiny syringe, the kind with the tiny plastic tip at the end. Do you have any experience with this ponie? :notsure:

Well, Romeo has hitched onto the top mast of the pirate ship for bed. He is still a bit pale do to stress, but seems to be settling in. Time for me to get to bed too! :happyfish

I'm afraid I don't have experience with this, though I have heard of it. I have mixed feelings on it.
Do you have mollie fry (or buy some feeder fry from LFS)? Can you tempt him into eating something on his own?
I fear it may be too late. A malnourished seahorse is very difficult to nurse back, since they depend so heavily on the constant flow of nutrients.
If you still have baby brine, you should definitely enrich them to give Romeo as much benefit as you can. If you need more info, I can get it. The recommended formula is called Selcon.
I know how stressful it is when they are having trouble, and I'll hope for the best for you.

Thanks. The food enhancer I purchased is by KENT, ZOE marine...heavy Spirulina Formula. Is this a good product or would you suggest something else? :notsure:
