when i say i am a rookie i mean a rookie! i just inquired a 125 gallon aycrlic tank with the over flows installed in it. just by reading so post on here i take it that a sump system would be the best filtration system for me. so, i went on ---- and bought a complete sump system with with All Accesories- Skimmer, lights, bioballs, bulkhead, and return pump and skimmer pump and overflow (Prefilter)- Everything you need! right? like i said i am a rookie and am just learning about this saltwater stuff, did i do okay with my purchase? did i get the correct stuff. next i have no idea on how to hook it up, as far as how do i do the connection from the tank to the sump. any help would be great and if any pictures are avalible that would be helpfull too.

it should work for your needs i'm hoping you got the larger one? dont forget the expense isnt always just the equipement i'm hoping the skimmer will work. youll have to judge for yourself on that..
your probably going to want more flow through the tank though depending on those pumps and the overflow

That's a nice acrylic tank you've got there. 125 gallons should be more than enough to wet your whistle. From the looks of your other equipment you've got some more stuff than you actually need. From the pictures, it looks like you've got a protein skimmer, two submersible pumps, a sump tank, and some overflows that would do very well on an all glass aquarium. Your aquarium looks to have an internal overflow box in the back center of it. So unless I can't see something else in the picture, you really don't need the extra overflow boxes or "U" tubes.
If you would, please get a picture of the overflow box in the center of the aquarium. Is there already a hole somewhere in/near the bottom of it? Does that hole have a bulkhead fitting or scupper that allows you to connect a hose? These questions will tell me what your next step should be. Also, it appears your overflow box has two returns to get water back into the tank. This would be nice, since you've also got two submersible pumps.
Also, please get a picture of just your protein skimmer. I can't see any Beckett injectors on it, but I'd like to be sure what kind it is. It will help in determining how to properly connect it.
I'm confident that with some patience we'll get it hooked up and you can start looking for lighting options.

I live in Sierra Vista so if you are near by let me know. I can come by and give you a hand setting it up.

That fuge looks much too small for a 125g IMO.
Your tank has duel 1 drains that can handle around 1400 gph. The pumps dont look big enough and I dont like the baffle layout either. Sorry, I hope Im wrong.

All right, I'll use your skimmer pic as a reference. The down-tube on the left descends from the catch cup. You'll want to hang it over the side of your sump down into some sort of a catch basin. It'll start to collect stinky amines and other organic compounds. You'll want to clean your catch basin regularly.

The middle down tube, with the small clear air line entering it at a 90° angle, is your inlet. You'll need to feed water into the skimmer here. The little air line will actually suck air into it, as water enters the inlet, thus making your bubbles and subsequent foam. Your foolproof bet is to use your smaller submersible pump to supply water to the inlet. You'll put your smaller submersible pump into the same baffle chamber as the skimmer in this case. Whatever the case, at some time in the future, you'll probably want to buy a bona fide magnetic drive-coupled pump to handle all your water pumping tasks.
The flexible hose with the little red top is your water outlet. Skimmed (foam fractioned) water will exit your skimmer here. The little red breather is to keep it from gurgling. If it wasn't there, after a while that would drive you crazy, and you'd start to imagine all sorts of far fetched things, like Denver in another Super Bowl for instance.
As an experiment, hook the skimmer's water inlet to your sink faucet or garden hose. Turn on a little water (not too much!) and watch how it works. Once you see it going it'll be a lot easier to understand what it does.
You can use the output of the skimmer to leak water over your bio-balls if you wish, there are a few schools of thought on this idea. I'll let someone else elaborate.
You'll want your large submersible pump to return water back up the tank sump (I'm assuming the returns have a pass through design), and back into the tank by way of one of the two white plastic return pipes. Like I mentioned earlier, you will eventually want a more powerful pump to handle your pumping tasks. That way you can make use of both of your return tubes.
I'm sure this will generate a few more questions, so fire away.
