Royal Gramma and Anthia

I purchased a Royal Gramma and an Anthia. I read that they are both rock dwellers but I figured I still would see them a lot. The Anthia stays out all the time and is really active. The Royal Gramma never comes out except during feeding time. Is this typical for a Gramma? I was hoping that once he acclimated to the tank that he would come out more. Though he has only been in the tank for a few days. It sucks if he continues to stay in the rock because I really like seeing his colors.

i just bought one not too long ago. He hides when i get near the tank...but if i stand there for a minute..it is curious and comes back out to check me out. generally, mine is in and out of the rocks..but never stays there cept when the lights go out.

Mine has a hiding place in the rocks, but he is out most of the day. He does seem to stay close to his hideout in the rocks and if he gets startled, he darts to the cave.

They are shy for about the first 5-7 days, slowly but surely they will stay out more. Just be patient with them.

I got a gramma from this site and have not seen him since I put him in. I moved the rocks he went under today to see if he may still be in there but did not see him. Not sure where he went but even during feeding time he is MIA. I will keep waiting and looking. It is a reef so a lot of rocks for him to hide. My worry's is that my p shrimp and e crabs may have ate him if he did die. They eat everything. I had a yellow tang that I was trying save for a friend. at the time my reef only had a few damsels so I figured it would be fine in there he did the tang thing hid between some rocks by morning the shrimp, crabs and bristle worms had eaten all but his bones and the top of his back. I was very sad I just thought he was hiding in the rocks I did not want him to get ate. Hope my gramma did not meet the same demise
