royal gramma jumped

so i bought a royal gramma today and while i was acclimating it in a approx. 1.5 gallon bucket he /she jumped out
the water was at least 3-4 inches from the top and it still made it out. sucks because i always wanted one and finnaly got one and it didnt make it to my dt

I don't get it....how long did you leave it alone for? when I acclimate it seems like I am always in the same room

i was in the same room i usually try not to acclimate mt fish more than 45min-an hour! i was sittin there watchin tv and i heard it so i tried to scoop it up real quick and put it back in the bucket but it acted like it broke its back or something

When I was much MUCH younger like single digit years... my dad, brother, and I went to clean out our fish bowl and the fish jumped out and landed on the counter. Acted the same way, didn't die, but it's body was deformed. I stopped doing anything with fish for a while after that because it had scarred me a bit. I hope nothing like that happens again... I had nightmares for months.

well i put it in the tank any way if any thing it was food for my 10'' green brittle star but hopefully it lives. i didnt see it all night so maybe when i wake up it will just be out hangin out! thats not my luck but i'll c

update! so i was out of town for a couple days and my brother was feeding my tank for me and he fed this morning and the royal gramma came out behind the rocks and ate fine like nothing happened!
im so glad i hate when a fish doesn't make it because of me

I thought it was already dead...that's what I though you meant by your original it jumped post....well glad to hear it has been resurrected....LOL

I just had my firefish jump out of my tank. The thing is I have a 12' tall canopy on top of my tank. She's a jumper.
