Royal gramma; NEST?

Hello all. Today my gramma is acting like a bird. He is taking small strands of sea grass and packing it into a hole, much like a bird who is building a nest.
Any explanations?

not quite sure how to explain what he is doing but mine did the samething under one of my rocks after removing all the sand. He made a cave like home and moved some things in. Pretty cool to watch and I loved it when the lights went out because he retreated into his cave.
On a side note, how long have you had your tank established and how well is your pulsing xenia doing under your current lighting. I have been looking to add some more coral to my tank and the pulsing xenia is one I would like but never thouht I had enoudgh light. TIA

Nesting behavior is not uncommon with these guys. I have a yellow tail damsel that built himself a cave by moving pieces of sand one by one until he hit the bottom of the tank. Is there anything 'threatining' in there?

I thought mine was pretty weird after he made my welsyphilia brain his home. My sebae clown sleeps on the brain and the royal gramma under it.

Ags: The tank has been running for about 7 months now and the xenia has been in for about 1 and a half months and Is doing wonderful. Pulsing better than the batch I bought them from at the lfs. THey have even spread a bit in this time. I love this coral.
They seem to be thriving. I have them about halfway up from the bottom.
Musipilot : nothing threatening at all.
