I did try using a rachet tie down for hold stuff in a truck and it was like tightening your belt super tight. It worked but it split hte bulge. Thought about the duct tape but I don't want to look that lazy!

I am in the planning stages of my Fuge. I like the idea of an external skeleton frame.
For the money, I will make a pvc cage to deal with the whole bowing issue. Heck, PVC is a helluva lot cheaper than wood, and since i have just relaid my water pipe from well, I will use the old pvc from it.:D :D

whoo hoo! Anyhow I am hoping to get the final water level adjustments made by this weekend and on saturdya it will be one month into the cycle. I only have a slight trate reading now ... will add the finall water and let it age a while more then add the first inhabitants - some of my 20 gallon folks.
Created a slight sand storm - but here is a picture of the rock work so far ....

Seriously, correct me if I am wrong please, but wouldn't you want to use something w/ sides that reflect light back to the inside of the fuge, like a white tub instead of a dark blue, green, or black one? These dark colors absorb a lot of the available light. This takes light away from the growth in the refugium. Isn't this a bad thing? I'm not exactly well educated on refugiums, but I DO know a little about how light is used by everything. I just think using something lighter in color would make the fuge more effective. If I am blowing this whole light thing out of proportion, let me know. I'm curious.

joker - ran a full "load test" last night and no bowing - it was great!! so much happier.
Fishkiller - since you be college edumacated you may be right :D :D :D
Seriously though - did not think much about that since I have seen the pictures of Broomer's harvest I did not worry too much about the light reflection I figure if I get the right conditions for growth the extra light or lack of ligth would havem inimal impact on growing algea - and since I have proven time and again I can grow all types of algea I do not worry too much about it :D :D :D
BUT - if I can't get the macro to grow I will blame it on you not giving me this advice earlier!!! ;)
