i have about a pound or so of LR ruble. my questions are when i take out the bio balls to put in the lr where exactly do i put the LR? does anyone have pictures of this set up? and how much rubble is needed to do this. and will it cause a spike or anything in ammonia? right now i have the rubble sitting in a small bucket of salt water from my tank with no water movement. is that ok? thanks all!!!!!

I have the same set-up in my wet-dry. you want the rubble under your water level and the bio-balls on top of that out of the water. This will give you the best bacteria of both worlds. areobic and anarobic <spelling>
as far as how much...It don't matter. the more the better. just keep it under your water line
BTW the Anarobic bacteria lives deep inside the LR. This is somthing that Bio-Balls Can not Produce. This is why LR in a Wet dry is good. Anarobic Bacteria is the A major contributer to the de nitrifing process.
man I need a spell Cker

so i should put it on the VERY bottom of the wet dry. under the bio balls and before the filter pad that allows the water to go into the sump part? and does anyone have any pictures of this? and should i really leave all teh bio balls in? and is the LR rubble ok in a tupperware container with no water movement or anything?

I think this Picture should show you what I mean. You can see the LR in the left with the BB's above it. Just above the BB's (blue) you can see a White tray. This is where I put my Carbon. On top of the white tray is my drip tray to spread the water across the whole wet/dry and on the very top is were I put my filter pad.
There is also a 4x4 sponge pad between the wet/dry chamber and the return section in the middle.
As for your LR I would say it should be fine. Just take some water out each day and replace it with tank water to keep it from fouling.
good luck hope this helps
