Rudeness!

I have noticed it a lot of it in this section lately and I just received a rude comment for a simple mistake. What is up with that? I understand people say thinks tongue and check but that does not come across very well on a typed message. You can have your favorites on these boards but do not be rude to others. This is not acceptable in my book. Everyone has a right to their opinion but if you are going to be a jerk knock yourself out, literally!

Hey, CK's back...

Yes gypsana, it sometimes comes across that way. Most of the time people don't mean it that way, but unfortunately it looks that way.

There also a lot of people in here that are new to saltwater and are guessing or just say whatever they have read elsewere...

It is not in the advice sections as much. Mainly in The Aquarium. Seems to come from those whom are on these boards mainly for that section. I read one comment (not directed at me) that was so rude and out of place they should have apologized. I just wish people had more tact.

I think she's referring to the aquarium forum.
Don't worry gypsana, your skin will harden enough to be a regular here.
If someone is out and out rude, the vets here will call them out. For the most part it's all harmless fun ... you'll get used to it.

My skin is hard, but I do not respect out and out rude comments. I do like these forums and I will continue to do so! Just had to rant that is all.

I know what your saying gypsana...

It seems that some people are more book smart (magazine, news paper, blog, what have you) that it almost seems that they're not sure/can't express they're selves without seeming like a know it all pompas butthead... Some wrap ourselves in what's going on in our own lifes and want to share our opinions/life experience with others, maybe here on this forum... some of us wrap ourselves in news media, history, current events, whatever... and want to share this with everyone on this forum like it's their lives. Who's right, who's wrong...
A bigger person can let the small stuff slide off of their back.

Not really...this board is full of people who copy and paste and reguritate the same old tired crap..

Gypsana, if you read it offensively, you prolly read it wrong. Most people put what they put with a kidding type of smily tone. If they don't and they are seriously rude, we all kinda gang up on them and they feel like big dummy dufus heads, and end up apologizing... Happened twice where I got involved...

I have read some that are seriously rude but I will not be a rat and name them off and no it was not Darth just to set that straight.

If they post it publicly and you call them on it, your not being a rat, your just taking a stand.
Its to late now, but if you see it again, call the poster on it. Either it will get worked out, or they, or I will get put in their (or my) place...

Not good advice Tizz. If you see something openly rude then PM a MOD. Let us handle it. The person that is openly rude and/or gets nasty with another poster will receive an infraction just as quickly as the person that started it, if they retaliate in a rude manner. By rude, I mean cursing, and getting nasty. Just PM one of us.
