I have afew simple questions about running carbon.
1-Is Chemi-Pure a good carbon product and how long does it last
2-How many bags of this should I put in the sump for a 120 I have a wet/dry
3-Should I use both black magic filter floss in the wet/dry and use the chemi-pure in the sump or one or the other ?
4-I have 5 leathers out of my 54 corals in my 120 Is carbon a necessity ?
Thanks

how long does it last for before it needs to be replaced I think for a 120 you need about 4 bags of chemi-pure at $8 a bag that gets expensive for me anyways to cut costs?

i run my carbon for 2 weeks a month. after that, wait 2 weeks, and run it again with new one.

with enough live rocks, u dont even need to run carbon. i run it only to clear things up at time.

I was only worried about since i had leathers and they shoot som toxins in the water if it would kill any surrounding corals... I have 175 lb of LR in the DT and 20 LB in the wet/dry..evrything is crytal clear w/o carbon.

someone on here was saying that chemi-pure is to be used in fw. chemi-pure even took the saltwater label off their product. this was becuase it was carbon + a DI exchange resin that was exhuasted in a few minutes in saltwater. can anybody clarify?

I have a canister filter that I use w/carbon in a canister to clear up water when needed. It works pretty well at pulling stuff out of the water and my skimmer doesn't produce nearly as much when the carbon is working. Run it for a few days then go back to paper filters.
