I am having problems finding a sump that is big enough to use, but still leaving me room to work and clean it. I have a 90 gallon tank, and the stand door opening is 36 1/4" wide by 21 1/4" tall. The stand inside measures 45 1/4" x 15 1/4" x 26" to tank bottom. (L x W x H) I currently have a 30" x 12" x 18 3/4 tank sitting in there for the sump. This is leaving me only 3 3/8" clearance between the top of the door opening and top of the sump tank. However I still have 7 3/8" above the sump tank to the bottom of the DT. This comes to be a 29 gallon tank. I see there is a 30 gallon tank that is 36 x 12 x 16. Is it ok to make the sump from a 29 or should I try to find a 30 gallon? ***** is expensive, didn't have any size tank I wanted anyway. I got a quote from glasscages:
46 x 15 x 16 tall glass aquarium $ 135.00
Nothing standard about these dimensions.
About 47 gallons
I am usure on the height if the 29 will be too tall and too short, the skimmer I am looking at is the coralife 220 which is 25" tall, which I can use it as a hang on, but then problems with microbubbles might arise. I have a mag 18 for filtration. I have two 1.5 inch bulkheads as drains and instead of drilling for the returns I decided on doing a return manifold (calfo I think). I was going to drill a hole in the sump to connect the mag 18 for space saving.
