hola, quick question, i have a 55g reef and i am hearing 10000 different answers from LFS about how long and how much i should run my skimmer...What are yalls opinion....its a crappy red sea in sump

not sure about yours.. but mine says 24/7 for best functioning in the manual.

I would run it 24/7 unless you have a reef tank in which you could run it less so that you're not pulling all of the food that corals may consume out of the tank. Again that depends on how good the skimmer is. If you say it's crappy and doesn't do a great job to begin with or is undersized, I would leave it on all the time.

ya its a older red sea berlin, right now i have a good amount of coral a few shrimp and crabs snails etc....no fish at the moment, leaving it fish free for 45 days bc of ich....thinking of upgrading to a ASM G-2 or a tunze classic 9205 or comline 9005....Cant decide

you may want to wait longer than that on fish... IIRC ich can live without a host for up to 90 days.
