running two different media in same reactor

Wondering if there is any reason I couldn't run two different media in a reactor at the same time just mixed together. I'd like to run phosban and de-nitrate at the same time in the same unit. I cant really think of a reason why this couldn't be done, but you never know. any thoughts?

I dont know about denitrate but phosban (or any GFO) usually requires a slower flow rate and can be kept in alot longer than many other medias such as carbon which reaches capacity quickly. you end up wasting the phosban (which isn't exactly cheap) or keeping the other media well beyond its usefullness. Like I said though I dont know anything about denitrators but if they have the same flow requirements and the same change intervals its usually okay.

I agree.
I'll also add that with ferrous oxide, I'd be concerned with grinding it if mixing with other products. It's pretty fragile. I have mixed carbon before with other products, like Seachems phosgaurd, which is not ferrous oxide.
