rust colored algea

anyone seen rust colored algea on rocks, like coraline algea is dying. all water tests look great. tank has been up for a year with no problems!:confused: :confused:

This isn't the red slime. I have and still am to some extent battling that. I'm winning though! hehe
I only have this in 2 spots on different rocks. It does not blow away like red slime and grows very slowly.

i had trouble with the red slime, and i used chemi-clean. it was gone in 36 hours. the rust colored came about 6 days after that. i had also just changed my light from 2/ 48" 40 watt bulbs, to 4 55 watt compacts, and 1 175 halide. :cool:

FireEater, that looks to me like some sort of encrusting sponge, but I'm having a hard time with the color. It's not the picture, it's my color-blindness. LOL. Anyways, some sort of sponge would be my guess.

Yes the red cyno can be blown off anything.
The stuff in the pic is not red cyno and is growing on the rock.
I agree with Demosthenes, that it might be some sort of encrusting sponge.
