Rust like algae

So my tank is maybe 2 months old and I now am getting rust like algae growing everywhere. Should I be concerned? Should I get snails and what kind?

I forgot to mention,that with this algae I have also noticed a funny smell with my water.

Algae growth with new tanks is common, it will pass when it has complete it initial cycle. Snails and emerald crab will consume algae. The only time I have any smell coming from my tanks is when I turn off my pumps. Do you have enough flow? How are your readings on your tank prams?

If so it's an diatom bloom and will go away with time.

That is exactly what I have. I guess ill just wait it out since it is normal in the process. Ammunition,nitrite,nitrate are all 0. Ph is 7.9. SG is 1.020. 76 degrees. Just don't have a phosphate tester.

Does your water smell like cucumbers? I noticed a very strong scent of cucumbers associated with my diatom bloom. And when I googled the term my water smells like cucumbers I got nothing. LOL. But when I googled Diatom smells like cucumbers, it brought up a page talking about how diatom blooms smell like them.

It's normal for your tank to have a "smell" to it when it's still in it's beginning stages.
My house smells terrible for almost 45 days while I was fighting dino algae. Smelled like 3 week molded pizza.
Ha try googling that hehe.

Oh wow. That sounds disgusting. LOL. What causes that bloom?

Silicates, probably from the sand. Once they're used up the bloom will end, don't sweat it.
